Plumbing & Bathrooms Merchants - Trade Counter Branch Manager

A vacancy has arisen in our busy Plumbing, Bathroom, Heating & Kitchen Merchants in the Liverpool area as the Branch Manager. The role is very hands on, with overall responsibility for both the Sales and Stocks, managing all day to day operations and reporting directly to the Directors.

Previous management and sales experience in a similar industry would be required.

 

Main Priority Responsibilities (would include:)

·         Responsibility for day to day operations in a highly competitive and sales focused environment.

·         Providing customers with a knowledgeable, dependable and friendly service on the trade counter.

·         Develop the business to actively increase opportunities for existing, new and lapsed customers and champion company strategy effectively to both staff and customers.

·         Communicate and negotiate with customers to secure the most profitable quotes, sales and on going business.

·         Use your initiative to identify opportunities to increase sales with advice and solutions for customers, maximising profitable sales and margins.

·         Report on branch performance according to company procedures.

·         Continually update your knowledge of competitor activity.

·         Maintain and improve a high level of health and safety.

·         Manage and maintain the highest quality customer service

·         Ensure your branch is clean, tidy and presentable at all times (Internal & external) with accurate pricing and current display products.

·         Picking of orders and ensuring the warehouse is clean, tidy at all times and stock checking/management is accurate with company procedures followed.

·         Data input, administration and management of stock levels and accuracy.

·         General maximisation of the contribution by the branch through profitable sales and control of overhead expenses, in line with business plans and overall company policy and strategy.

 

Job brief:

The ideal candidate would be highly motivated and skilled and have a minimum of 3 years previous sales experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to develop marketing and sales leads and convert into actual sales.

Previous sales within a similar merchant / construction materials industry would be ideal but is not essential.

You would also need to have a good awareness and understanding of the local market place.

·         Able to communicate effectively at all levels.

·         Strong planning and organisation skills

·         Proficient IT skills

Our customers range from the general public to large building developers, local tradesman, self-builders and DIYer’s. We supply everything required from ‘first fix’ plumbing & heating to finishing touches.

Job Type: Permanent     Hours: 44 hours per week (Mon-Sat)

Basic Start Salary:  Circa £18k-£21k (depending on relevant industry experience)

Targeted Bonus:(Uncapped) Bonus, relating to Branch Sales performance.
